Flu & Pneumonia

ATRIO Health Plans encourages you to get your flu shot as soon as you can and your pneumonia shot when recommended! The flu is a serious disease that can make you very sick, result in hospitalization or even lead to death from complications. Getting a flu vaccine is the single best way to reduce your chance of getting the flu and spreading it to your family, friends, or others. People who are at higher risk for getting flu-related complications include those aged 65 or older, and people who have certain medical conditions and chronic diseases including:

  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Weakened immune systems due to a medical condition or medication
  • Liver disease
  • Seizure disorders
  • Lung disease (such as COPD and asthma, cystic fibrosis)
  • Stroke
  • Kidney disease
  • Blood disorders

Talk with your doctor or an ATRIO Nurse Case Manager for more information.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all people age 6 months and older receive a flu shot every year ATRIO Health Plans wants to make that as hassle-free as possible for our members!
